This concert will explore the aftermath of Christmas and Epiphany through the works
of Bingham, Howells, Leighton, Rütti, Bach and two extended works: Poulenc’s
Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël and Britten’s A boy was born.

The programme includes:
Judith Bingham (1952-): Epiphany; God would be born in thee
Peter Cornelius (1824-1874), arr. Ivor Atkins: The three kings
Herbert Howells (1892-1983): Here is the little door
Kenneth Leighton (1929-1988): Lully, lulla, thou little tiny child
Carl Rütti (1949-): I wonder as I wander; De Virgine Maria
Francis Poulenc (1899-1963): Quatre Motets pour le temps de Noël
J. S. Bach (1685-1750): chorus from Christmas Oratorio, Cantata No. 6 for the Feast of Epiphany,
Benjamin Britten (1913-1976): A boy was born, Op. 3
